One of our favorite bands, Coldplay is set to release their new record, Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends on June 16, 2008.
What’s interesting about one aspect of their publicity campaign is that they are doing something similar to what Prince did with the Mail on Sunday Newspaper in the U.K.
They are offering a limited E.P …. on VINYL (remember my recent post about the vinyl trend?). The catch is that you can only get it if you buy the May issue of NME.
This will help sell the issue of NME while also getting fans excited for the new album which will drop the month after. It will also generate a lot of publicity for the release (I’m writing about it). Not sure what the deal specs are, but I’m sure Coldplay did get some money (if not a lot) for the exclusivity.
