Future of Music: Interview With Gerd Leonhard

Gerd Leonhard, co-author of The Future of Music was recently interviewed by The Downloader.

If you haven’t heard of Gerd, you probably haven’t kept up with what’s going on with the digital world of music. No worries, you can start now. I’ll let you read the interview yourself, but two of the most important things he has to say:

1. “Putting ourselves (industry people) LAST and the users / consumers and artists first. It’s about empowering them not us.”

2. “Artists will go direct to their users / fans, using their managers and smart service agencies that will mostly be SMEs. There is not much room for large cartels that are only interested in making the largest possible profit. My prediction is that we will have 100s of medium size companies that will run 80% of the global business.”
