iTunes: Singles vs. Albums

[ 5 ] September 26, 2008 | NewRockstarPhilosophy

In case you haven’t heard AC/DC is NOT releasing their new album on iTunes. I know, it hurts right?….

2 questions immediately come to mind:

  1. who cares?
  2. do their original fans even KNOW how to use iTunes?

…okay so that may be pushing it (they have sold a shat load of albums) but really, they are claiming that their NEW album is such a masterpiece that releasing it on iTunes (selling each track individually) would be a SLAP in their ARTISTIC FACE!!!!

This from a band who is famously quoted as saying:

“we haven’t made the same album 9 times. . . We’ve made the same album 12 times!”  -Angus Young

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with their music.  At one time it was cutting edge, and ground breaking, but the 70′s are over, and they are arguably still playing the same riffs.

If you truly believe that AC/DC has a grander artistic vision to their new album (Black Ice), then you probably think Ketchup is spicy, and that weapons of mass destruction are still in Iraq, just Bin Laden has some really good hiding spots.

This is a money grab, as our friend Bob Leftsez flamed about.

They proably would make even more money if they put it on iTunes, but they are just too precious for that. Oh well, i guess we’ll be forced to steal it like all the rest. And so it goes…

here’s my personal favorite cover of Back in Black

HAHA iTunes suck Digital sucks. Wake up and listen to the music people. All these people crying “OMG AC/DC isn’t releasing on iTunes because all they want is money. Let’s see iTunes sells songs $1.00 for 1 song? That is $15 for the album instead of $11.88 which it is being sold at. Who is being raped now? Uh-OH Some people really need to pull their head out of that certain place that stinks and look at reality. iTunes is killing major record company’s “Singles Don’t mean a pinch to anybody, an Album is what really matters” also that quote you got there about Angus saying the 12 times same album. That was a joke I hope you heard of sarcasm ;-] apparently you need to look up the definition of sarcasm. My final quote iTUNES SUCK WORSE THAN A HOOKER IN A BACKSEAT OF A CAR ON FRIDAY NIGHT!

  2. Zach says:

Oh yeah and one more thing. Wanna hear a song I dedicate to all you?

  3. For sure Zach, that Angus quote was def sarcastic. But although i agree that iTunes is not going to save rock n roll, i don’t think it is hurting the industry as some may believe.

Essentially iTunes was the first major company to get their shit together. And right now in the digital music world, it’s the only avenue that is making it through to fans.

i dig the vid, Ted Nugent is a guy who knows his audience.
    peace,
    voyno.

  5. [...] we’ve been writing about the importance of embracing the internet as a friend, not an enemy. AC/DC has chosen to ignore the changing times and have, arguably, missed out on paid downloads from the leak (400,000+ downloads and [...]
