This is the kind of thinking that all the major music labels should have been coming up with 10-12 years ago instead of sitting around and doing nothing (aside from the occasional frivolous law suit against 12 year old girls) and getting their clocks cleaned by all the interweb users.

As you mentioned, that truly is a shame they are not sharing some of this revenue directly with the smaller indie bands that myspace what it is.
