George Howard, founder of Rykodisc Records, Executive Director of ArtistsHouseMusic.org, Music Biz Prof, Music Biz Author, Blogger, and more…. recently blogged about what he looks for when deciding whether or not to work with an artist.
What’s cool is that he looks for artists that have real potential to impact the culture in a positive way and be timeless. Of course he wants to make money, but he’s not just looking for the flavor of the moment.
Not all people in the music industry are looking for the quick buck.
Something he didn’t mention in the post, but I’m sure is part of his strategy: Has the band put in the work to build a solid fan base on their own?

His ideas are just so crazy they might work. The world needs more of those like him. We have too little time on this planet to listen to shitty music.
