Franz Ferdinand is using Web Sheriff
Confessed pirates themselves, Franz Ferdinand have recently taken a pro-piracy stance, encouraging fans to download some of their work. It was therefore quite a surprise to hear that the band has recently hired the infamous Web-Sheriff to stop people from downloading their recently leaked album “Tonight”.
I’ve figured it out! The only reason a band will crack down on their hardcore fan base (those people who will go out and find their new music) is because their disc sucks!
Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III was one of the best selling discs of 2008 because of leaks. People wanted to hear his tracks, they wanted to share it. The people who dug the shared tracks wanted to BUY his record when it was officially available. Lil Wayne had one of the biggest albums of 2008 because of leaks, not in spite of it.
Franz Ferdinand new album has gotten some shitty reviews, so what do they do? Send the Web Sheriff on your ass. No one can listen to it until the official release, but after that the record will probably live a short life.
Franz Ferdinand can cry all they want. In the end it’s, once again, all about the music.[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCvY6EhIDaQ]
