You may like or hate this producer, but you must admit that Rick Rubin has made a large mark on popular music. From Def Jam to Neil Diamond, Rick has covered a lot of ground.
I came across this NY Times article about him and his move to Columbia records. Even though the article is over a year old, there were a few things I really dug.

It really is all about the songs. Everything is built around the songs.
