Music Success in Nine Weeks! What an audacious claim indeed.
Music Success in 9 weeks is a music business book that lays out a 9 week plan for world domination…well, not necessarily world domination, but you’ll definitely learn a thing or two.
What Ariel Hyatt writes about is a weekly plan to increase your fan base, bring focus to your band, and to do some simple things that can maximize the money you make from your music.
The book is easy to read and is a good introduction for musicians who are unsure of how they can use the internet to their advantage. A good chunk of the book is devoted to the email list and it’s exploitation.
Ariel is of the school of thought that the email list is the currency of the future. The more emails you can get, the more likely you will be able to sell you music, merchandise, tickets, etc. She makes a good argument for that point, and her book shows you a straight forward way to get that email list going.
Although this book is written for beginners, I felt as though some of her suggestions were for an artist with an established fanbase. That’s not to say that a new artist can’t use Ariel’s tips, but gaining that initial pool of fans is sometimes the hardest part.
In the book Ariel sticks to what she knows about, publicity. There is no talk of songwriting, band relations, or anything else. But Ariel has been at this game for a while now, and she knows what she’s talking about. Music Success in 9 Weeks is about using the tools at hand to carve out a niche audience for your music. It’s definitely worth a read even if you are an old hand at online music publicity. Check it out for yourself.[youtube=http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=iREKEWdjAUU]
