Interpol is a band that I’ve typically enjoyed. They’ve always had a very consistent and cohesive image. Every piece fit for Interpol, and they paid attention to even the smallest detail. Because of that cohesive image (music included) I was able to understand the band quicker and I think I became a fan quicker.
It’s quite nice to see a band come out strong right out of the gate. Music, image, and a strong sens of self; but it doesn’t usually happen that way. Many bands go through various style changes as they are finding their sound. But when you start to get a handle on your music and have a sense of where you want to take your band, then it’s time to pay attention to the details. The details are what will make a strong first impression, and with thousands of artists out there it’s important to make your first impression the only one you’ll need. Details.
