Read an article on Coldplay and their recent Canadian dates.
2 things struck out at me as pretty interesting insights into the world of Chris Martin and company.
1. He studies Nickelback for subtleties in their hit songs.
I don’t know if it’s a joke or not, but it does make sense as he’s a pop star himself. He wants to know what music is affecting the majority of the people and why. Topics, song structures, delivery, mood, etc.. are all important. If he’s doing it, you should consider doing the same with your favorite acts.
2. He knows how to “work” reporters.
The reporter of this article pointed out how Martin was more interested in him (the reporter) then answering questions. The reporter later found out Martin was doing this with a bunch of reporters. My take is that Martin is just a naturally friendly guy, but I’m sure he’s well aware of the good that comes with treating people with respect.
The Takeaway: You may have no interest in becoming a pop star, but if a pop star is still trying to learn something even after “making it”, that tells you something.

Coldplay get so much crap these days as in many quarters they are the band to hate. Or at least make fun of.
People forget their success came from a slow burn and word of mouth -Capitol did NOT put much into them at all. Their first record was a simple, straight forward recording without much of a marketing push.
And, people forget they just continue to write good, catchy songs.
