ArtistData has long been a favourite of the New Rockstar Philosophy. They’ve helped many musicians save time with their dashboard management of your many online profiles.
Recently word came that Sonicbids had bought ArtistData (AD). This move makes business sense as both companies were beginning to compete for the same working musicians dollar. So far there will be little changed to AD, if only an increased ad presence from Sonicbids to buy into their paid service.
Brenden from AD states that “Together, we’ll build the best end-to-end solution for touring bands.” That is a very lurcrative market to be in. With so many new musicians finding there niche, touring is now a must for growing bands. Becoming an end to end touring solution would help a lot of bands, and make Sonicbids/AD big players in working musicans world.
I don’t believe that Sonicbids is necessary to tour, to get more exposure, or to help your band further its career. EXCEPT maybe to get you an entry into SXSW, but that’s another post.
It’s to be determined what will become of Sonicbids aquisition. Brenden is staying on, for now, and if you paid for AD’s premium accounts you now have a Sonicbids account until September 1st, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY for all of you cheap skates AD will still be offering their free servies.
For you and I this merger will not mean that much for the time being, but Sonicbids is obviously having some of their wind stolen by plenty of new artists focused music startups including the big boys ReverbNation who have been gunning for Sonicbids since the get go.
