Fleet Foxes are a talented band. They’ve worked hard to develop a sound and a feel that is often imitated (Mumford & Sons) but truly their own.
Naturally, as a popular band with a popular sound, the Fleet Foxes would get courted by corporations for commercials. After saying no to a number of opportunities Fleet Foxes have some sobering advice for bands who are considering working for big paychecks.
“Tell them you’ll anonymously record a sound-a-like, since they’ll probably hire someone to do one anyways. @[email protected] […] All the cash, no cred loss, when it airs you’ll seem like a victim to the evil ad machine… the perfect crime.”
— Fleet Foxes offer some advice to the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, who recently said that they turned down thousands of dollars “because we don’t want to be in TV ads.” Fleet Foxes, unfortunately, are speaking from experience. (via @fleetfoxes)
