As the year comes to a close I thought it would be good to look back at a few of the more popular articles from NRP in 2010.
Frequent contributor Chris Dejong wrote this amazing piece for us back in August. The post details a realistic action plan for bands to use Last.fm to grow their fan base. Definitely recommended for those artists that are ready to make smart moves with their music.
Hoover is a big Malcom Gladwell fan (who isn’t?). He used Gladwell’s theory and Colplay to illustrate the fact that everyone has got to put in their time. Check his post for some succinct ideas to get you working to that magical 10,000 hours number.
I broke this story to the internet. That’s right, me, I found it, wrote about it, and told everyone. At the end of the day it didn’t turn out to be the big issue that I thought but it’s an interesting story nonetheless. Oh Weezer how you have toyed with your fanbase in 2010.
Another awesome post by CDJ, in which he gives bands solid ideas for building your fanbase. I would recommended reading this, it’s smart stuff that any band can apply. Those who are looking for social media ideas will find this particularly interesting.
and finally we come to the most viewed post (next to the NRP Book post) of 2010. Of course it’s a Kanye West post. In a year that was so full of Kanye it didn’t surprise many when his NSFW personal pics showed up on the net. I was quick to post an opinion about the whole thing but let’s be honest, providing a link to the pics helped vault this article to heights that it wouldn’t have got to without Kanye’s dong. Thanks Kanye!
