Facebook has been busy building a lot of new features. For bands it’s still not the one stop shop that MySpace used to be, but it’s getting closer.
One feature you should try out is creating a Facebook Landing Page. It’s exactly what it sounds like, the landing page is the first page fbook user will see.
The beauty part is it’s simple and free.
Pre press
Step 1. Get the image right size.
Something around 520 pixels wide works well, this way it wont be clipped by the ads on the right. Also remember to make the image relevant to your goals. Promoting a new release? Getting email signups? Put the appropriate info on the image.
Step 2. Upload the image to the interweb.
People who enjoy free webspace can upload their image to a free service like Image Shack, where they can grab the url. Then put that address bar and Double check the image file.
Putting it on Facebook
Step 1. Set up the tab
This is the Static FMBL application. On your artists page in the EDIT view you’ll see “Apps” on the left side of the page. Click on “Apps” and this will bring up all your settings and apps. Look for the FBML app and click the “Application Settings” link. You’ll want to use the Static FMBL as a tab, make sure that the “Box” setting is removed, and the “Tab” setting is added.
Step 2. Put in your content
When you’re in tab mode, click the “Edit” link under the Static FBML app. This opens a standard text field where you can add your content.
This is where the Pre Press comes in. Put in your HTML code. The simple stuff no need for HTML, BODY, or HEAD. < center > < img src=”http://imageshack.com/fakephoto.jpg” > < /center >
Step 3. Make it default
Make this new tab the first thing fans see. Go to your page settings and edit your “Wall Settings.” There is an option for “Default Landing Tab for Everyone Else.” From that menu, select your Static FMBL tab.

I did not know you could set the landing page. Thanks for this info!!!
Great post! I’ve been helping bands and music companies with this for the last year. It is one of the most under-utilized features on FB because most people don’t know you can do this. Get in touch if you need help. I can be reached at [email protected]. Thanks!
