I love seeing an artist who’s really enjoying themselves and their craft. You can tell through their music, their photos, their videos, it’s really very obvious. In 2011, few artists are enjoying themselves more than Cee-Lo Green, who once again is on top of the world and seems to be embracing his solo role in more awesome ways.
Check the video:
Sweet right?! Those are the type of videos that take casual fans and make them real fans. People remember stuff this clever.
But is it really that clever? Let’s analyse what’s happening in that clip.
You have Cee-Lo answering questions that he created to help re-enforce his “Lady Killer” image. Do you have an image? Do you know your image? You could do this too.
Obviously Cee-Lo is a huge star and the fact that he’s spoofing James Lipton makes it all that more awesome, BUT I would argue that you don’t need a makeup team to get similar effects.
Get a friend, a dog, an iguana, a deflated or inflated whoopie cushion to interview you. It doesn’t matter as long as you have something interesting to say. Notice that I didn’t say Funny, because if that’s not your image then that’s not your image. Ya dig?
Video interviews are a great way to get your message out about what you want to talk about. It doesn’t have to be a huge production. The video can be 30 seconds, answering one question, with your music playing in the background. Done. Now you can edit it and frame your interview for the world. Don’t wait for people to come to you asking for video interviews. You can do it yourself.
