The Britney Spears hype machine has been working over time since January in preparation for Britney’s new album.
One of the strategies has been very simple and successful; Create short 5 second teasers for her album, that give the viewer a glimpse of what is to come. They’re so short and effective that they’ve received some huge numbers.
… a 5-second teaser (embedded below) released on February 4 has gotten close to 2.5 million hits on YouTube so far, despite offering no music and little coherency. Meanwhile, the 11 clips she’s released since then — all of similar length — have gotten a total of 10 million views, according to YouTube Trends. (via Mashable)
Although this looks pretty sweet, it’s nothing that you cannot replicate to suit your own music.
Are you a coming out with a new release soon? Get some video footage of you playing/recording/chilling/dancing/whateverisyourthing and splice it up into a quick 5-10 second clip.
You don’t have to make 12 of them either. As long as your video clips cover 3 things: – Your music/new release, your image, and your personality, you will be able to build hype for your music while not spending all day editing a video.
