Kid A changed my life. That album changed a lot of lives. I had been a huge Radiohead fan since I heard the guitar on Iron Lung, and growing up as Radiohead grew up, Kid A hit me at the exact right time in my musical life.
So today I thought I’d share with you this interesting interview/documentary with Thom Yorke, about the world and events surrounding Kid A. During the time of Kid A’s writing Yorke was facing intense pressure and stress due to the the bands landmark OK Computer album (which still sounds as vital over a decade after it was released).
Yorke speaks about how touring and the rock star life completely depressed and destroyed his spirit after OK Computer and the idea of making another guitar album depressed the shit out of him. Added to the grind was the fact that York had massive writers block. For 2 years, he claims his writers block continued, until he found away to make all of the little bits work together.
It’s a quick watch, but reccomended for anyone who wants to understand more about the masterminds who made the greatest album of the 2000’s.
