My day job involves creating and developing iPhone apps and therefore scouring the app world for the best and the brightest is a common task. This week I stumbled upon a new featured app called Radio Soulwax. At first I thought this was just another streaming audio app, but upon downloading the FREE app I found that Radio Soulwax is much, much, more than a simple music app.

In the creators words Radio Soulwax is:

A growing collection of 24 one hour-long mixes with visuals that we are sharing with you for free, and hopefully it will become a platform for many more things to come. We call them mixes, but in reality they are more like musical films based on the record sleeves. –Radio Soulwax

You must download this app to fully appreciate it. The people at Radio Soulwax are pro dj’s who know music very well and will reward you for your time listening.

But the music mixes are only one part of the equation. The visual element, is so cool, hilarious, bizarre, and well done that I find it hard to look away from the album art that is exploding off my iPhone.

I randomly choose to check out the the Introversy mix, which contains 420 intros all perfectly mixed together taken from every genre with a sick jam. The illustrated/animated sleeves that accompany every new song give the music a new dimension and if you’re in the right state of mind you won’t want to look away.

For music lovers, musicians, and vinyl obsessed folks, (all of my friends) this is a MUST DOWNLOAD APP. Especially if you have an iPad. The visuals are sweet on an iPhone, but on an iPad they are much more to take in.
