Most people know Maestro Fresh Wes as the Canadian Hip-Hop pioneer. His track “Let Your Backbone Slide” was the first track by a Canadian MC to make it onto big charts and he’s enjoyed a solid, if not hard fought career in both music and acting since. Recently Maestro wrote his first book, Stick To Your Vision, where he lays out his wisdom in a very readable, entertaining, and inspirational way.

There are 3 major sections in Stick To Your Vision, Expectation, Operation, and Destination. Within each section (containing around 10 chapters each) he offers his real world experience, and ways to change harmful thought patterns and get your vision closer to a reality. After each chapter there is a quick summary of what you need to know and exercises that will help shift your thinking toward sticking to your vision.

This book is another perfect companion to The New Rockstar Philosophy Book. It contains many of the same overall goals, spirit, and ideas that Hoover and I have written about in our book, but goes into certain topics on a deeper level. There’s really great advice on networking, differentiating yourself, defining your expectations, and ignoring the haters. All things we probably could use some help with. So If you’re looking for a quick summer read then def check out Stick To Your Vision, at the very least it’s a enlightening look at Maestro’s remarkable career.
