MySpace Rises? #Zombie #SocialNetwork

[ 0 ] August 15, 2011 |

I check my websites analytics often. Google, Bandcamp, Flavors.me, and Next Big Sound all provide a good idea of where people are coming from to find your site. Recently those sites have started showing me a peculiar trend; MySpace still has big traffic power.

I have not been a fan of MySpace for sometime, in fact I had pretty much abandoned my own MySpace site last year. But lately MySpace has been pushing a lot of hits to my sites. Perhaps it was Justin Timberlake‘s magic touch that turned the site around? (lol).

Does this mean that MySpace is back? Not really. If you had a MySpace site since the early days then I would recommend keeping it up to date because the Google juice is huge. But if I were starting a new project I would still use Bandcamp and YouTube to establish anything new.

We’ll keep an eye on the slow beating heart of MySpace and let you know if it moves even more traffic. But it’s interesting to think that even after all of the hype about the downfall of the site, this social network that had a massive user base still has strength.

Or perhaps what we’re seeing is a case of Facebook having absolutly nothing to do with Music and how much of a market share they’re losing because of that. Either way it’ll be interesting to see how this Zombie social network survives in the next few years.
