The end, or the beginning, is near friends. Ubisoft has figured out a way for people to learn to play a real electric guitar using video games. The game is called Rocksmith and comes out Oct 18. It’s supposed to sell a ton of copies because not only is there a huge void left after Guitar Hero and Rock Band sunk, but… you A C T U A L L Y L E A R N T O P L A Y!
The game — which will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 — will cost $80, including a cable to connect the guitar and the console. A bundle including the game, the cable and a full-size Les Paul Junior electric guitar costs $200.
…The technology allows the guitar to be plugged into the console with one cord, and turns the TV into an amplifier. At that point, everything becomes digital, from tuning the guitar to creating different distortions with various pedals that consumers would normally have to pay for separately. This will probably create a lot of punk bands. Or at least I hope so. #OccupyWallstreet

It works with regular guitar and bass guitar. Any electric with 1/4″ plug. There’s an option in the game for which type of guitar you’re using.
I just bought a Squier from a friend and then bought the game / cable bundle for $60 from Best Buy.
It also has a tuning program that will tune your guitar and it’s super easy to do.
Will you be able to use your own electric guitar supposing you already have one, or is it only compatible with the les paul jr?
Does this have a bass option?
This is probably coming, but from what I’ve heard, no plans yet.
