Perhaps I’ve just missed this video trend before, but it appears that there may be one more style of YouTube video that you can be creating. I’ll call it the Video Collage.
Lana Del Rey triggered this post. She’s now released a few videos that have been very much embraced by the public and the press. The videos accuratly display what she’s about (American nostalgia) by having scenes of Lana Del Rey singing spliced into clips of American good/bad times. Just watch the video:
You see what I mean?
What does this mean for you? For starters you have the entire YouTube world at your finger tips. Search for clips that will go well with your music, your image, the story you’re trying to tell and download those clips.
I use the Firefox extension DownloadHelper. It doesn’t matter what you use as long as you can slam the clips into your favorite video editor and do some cutting.
Gathering the appropriate clips is an important step, but adding your own face into the mix is critical. People respond to faces, this separates the Collage Video from an Archival video. Grab your iPhone4 and see what you come up with.
This type of video could help some people who claim they don’t have the time/budget for full on videos. As long as you have a strong video concept this type of video could be a winner. Give it a try and then send us a link.
