Increase Your Email List By Giving Away WiFi

First off let me say that this is just an idea. As far as I know this doesn’t exist yet but I’m sure some enterpristing programmers could make this happen.

The idea is this: Many venues do not have free wifi. Your fans want free wifi. Why not give away free wifi for an email address.

You could do this two ways:

a) Cheap way – Do you have an iPhone? Go into your Settings and select “Personal Hotspot,” turn that on then create a custom password. You could use “INSERTBANDNAMEHEREisthebestbandever” and reinforce how nice you’re being to your fans.

Now then let people know that if they want to hop on to your connection they can. Just have them write their email and you’ll toss them the password. Easy.

b) Hi-tech way – Find some program on the internet that will allow your fans to use their email to join your network. Do some Googleing for more info.

A simple and effective way to increase your email list. In theory at the very least. Give it a try at your next gig and let me know how it goes.
