Next Big Sound Shows Us The State Of Online Music In 2011

[ 0 ] January 18, 2012 |

Our friends over at Next Big Sound have just released a ton of information on the state of online music in 2011. Unsurprisingly it’s doing very well. Numbers are up everywhere (even MySpace) and Next Big Sound has a purdy looking visualization to explain it all right here.

Some quick facts:

SoundCloud song plays had an amazing 231% increase/growth. And the best day for song plays? Tuesdays + Thursdays, remember that next time you promote your SoundCloud release.

Twitter grew 104 % with pretty even keel growth throughout the week. Meaning that with Twitter you should talk all the time.

Facebook page likes increased by 96 % and the best day was Thursday to garner more likes. More good info for promo.

Finally our favourite YouTube had an increase of 62% with the best days to premier videos going to the weekend… Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday…. yes in my world weekends are 4 days long.

Also in there have been nearly 65 billion new playsover 3 billion new fans, and over 16 billion new views of music videos in 2011. So don’t believe the piracy hype, music is thriving like never before. For more info head to Next Big Sound and check it out.
