McCartney is trending on Twitter.
While perusing the tweets, I noticed a link with the description “Who is Paul McCartney”.
It links to everyone who’s tweeted their ignorance to the existence of Sir Paul.
At first I was like, are you serious?? How can you not know who Paul McCartney is. I just had an incredible experience seeing him live in Milan during our book trip and these people don’t know who the hell he is.
Then I thought to myself, these kids are bombarded with new music, media, and messages all the time in our modern age. The ubiquity of someone from a legendary band like the Beatles has to fade as the world fills up with noise and time passes. I’m assuming the trending is because of the Grammy’s. Speaking of fading from ubiquity….
Anyways..
Gaining and keeping the attention of the mainstream has always been a difficult task, but it’s getting even tougher in a world where there’s more and more noise. As an artist, I don’t want hold you back from wanting to take over the world, but I want to make clear that you can create a career with a small but dedicated audience.
