Bloc party are set to release their fourth album and they’ve started to hype the record. They’ve leaked the album artwork, the tour dates, the track listing and a tasty album teaser. Four (Album Trailer) is a look at a bit of Bloc Party antics, over top of a number of new track snippets to get fans hyped. Take a look.
Simple and effective, but did you notice the camera style/effects?
That is TOTALLY 8mm!..at least a large number of the videos.
Bloc Party probably have been reading The New Rockstar Philosophy for the past 3 years and remembered when we wrote our review of the 8mm Vintage Camera. Clearly they were so influenced that they bought the app and started putting this together.
Give this idea a try it for your next release or similarly hype-able event, but do one better than Bloc Party. STAGGER YOUR CONTENT. Make sure you create a content release schedule and steadily build the hype with the crowing jewel being the your new music.
An example of staggered content for an 3p(RTFB) release over a 3-4 month period:
- First the 3p title
- Release the artwork
- Release the first trailer
- Release the tour dates
- Release the 2nd trailer
- Release the merch artwork
- Release the 3rd trailer
- Lead single
- 4th trailer
- Lead single video
- -Tour starts-
- Etc.

Staggering content is important. Even on minor things like recordings from a show. My guitarist published each song on YouTube and Facebook in a row.
This made our YouTube channel look boring, since all the thumbnails looked almost the same.
Plus, after he did that, we had nothing else to share. I prefer not sharing things all at once but to drip it out over time and vary the content.
But I love this album release promo schedule. Great information!
